100 833

100 833!  That's how many page views I've had since Blogger has been keeping track!  I noticed last month that I was getting close, but I didn't think I'd be over the 100 00 mark by so much before I noticed.  Between trips, and computer issues, I haven't had much time for blogging.  I hope to get more regular once the kids are back in school. I've got quite a bit to show, but most needs to just get finished up.  Or "real" photos.  It's hard to show a newborn romper, just laying flat in the grass.

Anyway...it's late, I'm off to bed.  Hopefully I'll have some new stuff for you in a couple days!

Hello?

I know I get about 10-15 views for my "average" pages, and quite a few more for pages that I have patterns (especially linked to Ravelry).  But I have 59 "followers".  Why do people follow a blog if they don't read it?  One-sixth of my "followers" read my blog regularly.  I haven't had a comment since Oct 29.  My most "commeted" month was January, and my post with the most comments?  NO knitting/crocheting content at all :(  All total, last year, I had 24 comments (including at least 4 that had nothing to do with knitting).

I write because I like to share knowledge and writing is an easy way to do that.  It's a great record of what I've created, and hopefully inspires others.

But when you have very little confirmation that others find what you have to say to be of any value...it's really hard to keep going.  At least, with my facebook page, I can get thumbs up (although pictures don't often show up in newsfeeds, and again, the number of real fans is quite low compared to how many likes you have).  Maybe I need one of those little bars under the posts, where readers can click "like/funny/agree/learned something" etc.  How do I do that?

On a positive note, my husband found a missing ball of sock yarn!  I thought it might be in a suitcase pocket, but I guess I checked the wrong suitcase.  I was so down about losing it since I had already started the socks, toe up, and was at the heels when I ran out.

Well, Ain't That Odd?

Back when Meg was a newborn, fall/winter 2005, I decided to join the blogging world. I signed up for Blogger, created a blog name "Knits and Knots" and got it all set up. But then, before I posted even once, I couldn't get logged in again! I tried various times over the next 7 months until I gave up and created this one from scratch. Today, I opened my yahoo email and there was an email from blogger saying that I had inquired about my tracykvm account and here was the info. Skeptical, I clicked the links. It seemed real, but I had to give an email address and I was leary of giving my yahoo or Rogers email, so I created another one. But it all seemed legit, so now I have two knitting themed blogs. I could turn this one into a sewing blog as the web address is generic, or make one for machine knitting and the other for handknitting, but it seems silly to split things up. Is there a way to move posts from one blog to another one (like some of my early posts from here that should be on my 'general' blog instead)?

Interesting Stats

I haven't had many comments lately, despite doing way more posting than normal (due to a week without a vehicle, LOL). So, I like checking out my blogger stats and just making sure I actually have readers. Well, you learn some interesting things, and sometimes get more questions than answers. Like, why, on Oct 14, at 12:00 (noon, I think, and is this EST, GMT, or the weird time on my computer), was there 43 page views? I can't find out what page specifically they were visiting--you can get that detail for the day it is, but not for previous days. Why, when someone searched Yahoo! for "Naughty teen" did a picture of me trying on the bodice of the empire waist dress muslin show up? And why is someone searching "Things to do in a Snuggie"? Why did I get so many views of Fuzzy Wuzzy (the last post)?
Apparently, having a sudden spike in views can mean that someone linked to your picture instead of saving it to their computer. But I can't find out how to know if someone actually did this (hot linked).
While it's great knowing that people are actually finding their way here, and at least looking at posts....it'd still be nice to get feedback :)

Adding Labels

I used to add labels to all my posts, but I have a problem. Say I put sewing and knitting in one post. In the label box, I put "Sewing; Knitting". It shows on the posts as being ONE label, not two. In the example on the create posts page, it does show separating them with a , so I tried that and it changed the label to something I didn't want. How do I put two separate labels on a post?

I Did It!

Thanks Z! I had no idea you spoke HTML, LOL. At first, I changed the bit in the < $BlogItemComment..... >and that did something funky. Then I saw the word 'comment' by itself after that bit, and changed that instead, and it seems to have worked! It's tempting to go through and see what else you can play with, but with my luck, I'd mess up everything. In high school, I got banned from using the new computers in the drafting lab; they seemed to freeze everytime I had my turn!

Stay tuned for some actual knitting photos!

Sidebar Links

I added somethings to my sidebar, under links. And the font changed to that larger size. Can anyone help me get it back to normal? And recommend a good book on HTML? LOL. I'd like to change on my template, where it says 0 Comment(s) so it says something cool like other blogs. Where in the template is that? I see the word "comment" in MANY places!

Losers!

Earlier, I was lost....now I'm a loser. Okay, not quite. We're not losers, we're mis-placers. Somewhere in this house is the camera. Somewhere safe where the kids won't get it. And apparently it's such a safe place, I can't get it either! So, my finished and blocked Flower Basket Shawl will have to wait. I'd love to take pictures outside too, but it'd be nice if it were spring first. Everything outside is the same colour as the shawl.

You want to know the funny thing about that Star Trek song? I never liked Star Trek! So, I figured I've seen Jayne pictures from Catbookmom's blog (memo....check my links to see if I've added her yet, now that she has also found herself again, LOL). And Jayne reads Emma, and Emma read me so I commented on Emma's blog.....but Emma....how'd you find me? LOL. She's the lawyer in Salt Lake City? Mmmm....Miriam (MimKnits) is in SLC too, right?.....connection? This is fun, like a modern day chain letter. Or Friendship cake. Yum. Does anyone still make/share Friendship cake?

I've got a baby blanket on the Singer 327. Using a punchcard tuck stitch design. It started out so fun! Just zip zip zip and the design magically appears. But now, after several inches, I'm getting bored!!! It's just zip zip zip. Sure, it's fast, and near perfect, but now requires no brain function. Except for when Megan thinks she'd like a turn. Her idea of 'knitting' is to stab the piece with the transfer tools, and pull the latches forward/back. I've taken to covering up the beds now!

Off to look for the camera some more. Or maybe I'll sit and watch All My Children :)

Am I Lost?

I think it's fabulous how one blog leads you to another....and another....and you find little gems....and then you realize that actually they're not so little, LOL.

There are circles of bloggers, interlinking like the Olympic rings. A few of the readers here are from about.com knitting forum. I read their blogs too. Then, there are the readers from the Yahoo groups I'm in. And then there are others....who find me somehow, somewhere. One came here from the Yahoo Apraxia (a speech disorder) group. I'm not in that group! She read the post about B12 deficiency from last fall. Did she find it by Google? Or is someone in the Apraxia group and a group that I'm in? Someone recently read my babywearing post....and I don't recognize her from anywhere.
And now there's Emma and Jayne. I recognize Jayne's picture from comments on another blog---which one? She says she found me through Emma's blog. I left a comment on Emma's blog after she commented here about my new shawl. But how did Emma find me? Everyone's finding me and I didn't know I was lost, LOL. I used to love pen pals, chain letters, letters in a bottle...all that stuff. I'm a bit of a geography freak too :)

Bumper sticker "I found Jesus....he was hiding behind the couch!" LOL.
